Bernard Korites, American. (1941 - ).Bernard Korites was born and raised in Boston and spent his early summers sailing and fishing on Cape Cod. He studied in Boston at Tufts University and at Yale University in New Haven, CT. Korites's inspiration for painting comes from the New England area, primarily along the coast and near his home in Duxbury, MA as well as the interiors of Maine and Vermont. His artistic influences include Vermeer for his clean and careful look and Cezanne and Seurat for their vibrant colors and luminist painting techniques. Korites is a member of the North River Arts Association, MA and has exhibited at the Mystic Seaport Museum in Mystic, CT. He is noted for his landscape, seascape, and still lifes, which show wonderful depth, color, and luminious qualities.
